Ray-Ban Aviator Sunglasses

The Ray-Ban Aviator is a design of sunglasses manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1937 for the Army and Navy. The style of the Ray-Ban Aviator was developed for pilots to wear when they were not flying. Their unique oblique teardrop shape matched their flying goggles which left noticeable and unsightly tan lines around the eyes. The oversized aviator sunglasses covered the white areas. The Aviator became a well-known style of sunglasses when General Douglas MacArthur landed on the beach in the Philippines in World War II.

The Ray-Ban Aviator has also become popular with law enforcement as its shape covers much of the eye area therefore reducing eye contact with others.

Please note, the RB3044 are truly small Aviators. We recommend them for men and women with small and/or narrow faces. For those with a fuller face, we strongly recommend either trying them on first at a store, or ordering RB3025, which comes in large lens sizes.
