Ray-Ban Wayfarer Sunglasses

The Ray-Ban Wayfarer is a design of sunglasses manufactured by Ray-Ban since 1952. Wayfarers were immensely popular in the 1950s and 1960s, after they were worn by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Some say Wayfarers could be considered the best-selling style of sunglasses in history.

The Wayfarer was designed in 1952 by Raymond Stegeman, an inventor for Bausch and Lomb, Ray-Ban's parent company. Like Ray-Ban Aviators, Wayfarers were originally developed as sunglasses for pilots. Kim Novak wore Wayfarers on the French Riviera in 1954, and Marilyn Monroe further strengthened the popularity of Wayfarers.

Since then celebrities such as James Dean, Roy Orbison, Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, John F. Kennedy, Corey Feldman and John Lennon have been seen wearing the Ray-Ban Wayfarer. Tom Cruise wore Ray-Ban Wayfarers in the movie Risky Business, which further solidified their mark in fashion history. Don't forget the iconic Blues Brothers that added their stamp of approval to Ray-Ban Wayfarers as well.
